TAB branches start to open up now

Seven TAB outlets have already opened, two of which are in a Betting World shop. They will operate every day from 11am to 5pm.

Great news for bettors is that betting shops have started to open across the country.

Seven TAB stores have already opened, two of which are within a Betting World shop.

They are: the Pavilion at Turffontein, Bedfordview (both inside Betting World stores), Benoni, Randfontein, Carletonville, Westonaria and Chris Hani.

At this stage they will operate every day from 11am to 5pm but these hours will be lengthened when the need arises.

Get to your store because there is a fantastic card at Fairview today which includes the running of the Listed World Sports Betting East Cape Derby over 2400m, the Listed Dahlia Plate over 1200m for two-year-olds, as well as two strongly contested Pinnacle Stakes races.

Race 8, the Pinnacle Stakes over 1600m, contains a previous twotime Horse Of The Year in Legal Eagle, as well as National Park, the only horse ever to have finished in front Hawwaam in a race on the Highveld.

Justin Snaith sends out August Leaves and it comes as no surprise to see the son of Silvano priced up favourite for the East Cape Derby.

This gelding has only raced seven times and it took six starts to win his maiden, but as is so often the case with progeny of Silvano, he has improved since racing over longer distances.

August Leaves won his maiden over 2000m in February and then, after the lockdown, came back to win his next start over 1950m at Kenilworth, coming from quite a long way back to mow down his opposition.
