Betting guide for Hollywoodbets Greyville meeting

-

Large pools with plenty of opportunities are the key betting factors on tomorrow’s Hollywoodbets Greyville card and Germaine Maharaj takes you through the meeting race by race.

Race 1: Promising Butterfly Beauty has drawn best and looks the one to rove in Quartets with highly regarded Highveld runners Miss Daisy and Feather Boa sure to be in the fight but include Canadian Summer and an outsider of your choice for a decent dividend. Big Jackpot 1 pool expected, starts in Race 1, here is a guide: 1, 7, 8, 12 x 2, 4, 7 x 1, 6, 10, 11 x 4, 5, 7, 8 = R192

Race 2: Now I Got You ran second in a Grade 1 last time. Will be hard to beat from draw two. Back him for a win, banker him in BiPot 1 and take Trifectas and Quartets with Taikonaut, Raffles and Blackberry Malt.

Race 3: Place Accumulator should again attract a massive pool on July day – place your bet early to avoid disappointment. Airways Law is the talking horse as he’s been improving fast and as such included as a reserve in the Hollywoodbets Durban July – he must have a big chance at the win in the consolation, Vodacom 2200. Back him for the win but take swingers with One Way Traffic who is aimed at this race.

Race 4: The Pick 6 pool is expected to sail to R12 Million! Sean Tarry is known to do very well on big days and he looks to have Black Thorn at his best for an assault on the 3000m DStv Gold Vase. He has not won at Greyville nor over the extended marathon and it could pay to include 3200m winner Salvator Mundi and Woolavington fourthplaced Monashada. Take Swingers with these.

Race 5: Make sure to have a ticket for the expected R1.5-million Jackpot 2. Star fillies Maharanee and Sweet Pepper could have this race to themselves if the others aren’t up to scratch. But legendary jockey

Weichong Marwing has Time For Glory, his first runner in the Grade 2 Golden Slipper and at big odds she could be the one to go each-way on.

Race 6: Super field of youngsters for the Grade 2 Golden Horseshoe. Money has come for Grinkov, one of four from Glen Kotzen’s yard but suggest boxing as many as one can to catch the Quartet. All of 2, 4, 6, 7, 10, 12, 13, 14 make up the shortlist and talented Miss Cool receiving weight at double figure odds could be the place bet of the day.

Race 7: The big one and it could be trainer Vaughan Marshall and rider Grant van Niekerk’s time to taste glory as at time of writing Linebacker had taken on the role of race favourite. But Mike de Kock who last won in 2011 looks to have more than enough artillery to win while Justin Snaith has become a specialist and is full of praise for Pomp And Power, Hoedspruit and Do It Again – suggest going with these to be able to win the Quartet with a massive

R10 Million pool expected. Quartet selection: Box 1,2,3,4,8,10,12,16.

Race 8: Not many can look past Captain’s Ransom as Pick 6 banker and she may make amends on last year’s disappointing Garden Province run. Banker in all bets. Under Your Spell for a place does represent better value though.

Race 9: Favourite William Robertson has drawn wide and the race is as open as it gets – go wide in the 1st leg of Jackpot 3. Talented Coin Spinner has come into the race with a light weight and barrier one. He will get the chance to show how good he is and worthy of a solid each way bet. Swingers and exactas with Vars Vicky, Bartholdi and William Robertson.

Race 10:

There is a juicy carryover of R100,000 for the last exotic – the Pick 3. It is the ‘Get Out Stakes’ and another chance to win big but this may not be a race to go wide in as Warrior, Gentleman’s Wager and

Xavion look certain to be in the fight for honours on current form. Add Arctic Drift and Supreme Dance as the value options.

Race 11: By this time the National Trainers Title could be decided with both Justin Snaith and Paul Peter looking to have claimed much of the day’s spoils. Peter’s unbeaten Grimaldi has drawn perfectly and could be hard to beat in the penultimate race of the night. Both Conquer The Enemy and Sunday Island have won on the poly and have also drawn well. Grimaldi banker and swingers with the latter two.

Race 12: The final race on the night is an ultra-competitive fillies and mares handicap over 1600m and the Quartet will be the bet to catch. All of Flashy Kaitrina, Oh So Squishy, Lady Macbeth, My Cherie Amour, Angel Of Justice, Princess Ozma and Aisling need to be included. Here’s wishing you the best on Hollywoodbets Durban July raceday!
