Nine premiers with Rosemary Zimu as lead star
International film titled Nine premièred yesterday at the Joburg Film Festival with South Africa’s very own Rosemary Zimu.
The film is directed by Los Angeles-based actor and director Chris Attoh and produced by Angela White.
Nine is a suspense thriller centred around the discovery of yet another young woman killed in a ritualistic manner under a full moon in Ghana.
A forensic consultant calls in the help of a homicide detective from the US as the investigation unfolds, they quickly find they are caught in the middle of an elite group of nine hooded all female assassins quest to stop a dark supernatural force prophesied to gain immortality by the next Blue Moon.
The founder of Silver Lining Entertainment Angela White executive produced this edge of your seat thriller. White is a veteran television and feature film producer based in Los Angeles, CA and is the first African American woman to produce and own a production company that released a theatrically faith-based film, entitled A Question of Faith, featuring Kim Fields and Richard T Jones.
The cast of Nine includes a mix of actors from different parts of Africa such as Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa’s breakout star Zimu who is known for her roles in Netflix’s African Original series Shadow and the hit TV series Savage Beauty.
The characters of the film were created and written by Erica Joy, who wrote BET’s The Family Business and The Black Hamptons.
Silver Lining Entertainment is producing the film in association with Ghanaian production company, A-Factory and is shooting in Accra, Ghana and Los Angeles, CA. –
