Get into the Wright camp

- Jack Milner

Trainer Alyson Wright could land a double at Hollywoodbets Greyville today when they race on the Polytrack.

With the abundance of rain in KwaZulu-Natal lately a number of race meetings have had to be abandoned so a couple of new events have been added to the racing calendar. That is the case with today’s meeting which was hastily put together last Thursday.

It is, nevertheless, quite a decent one and there are some interesting betting opportunities on the eight-race card.

Wright sends out Khanyisa Indlela in Race 4 and Winter Waves in Race 5 and a TAB double or All To Come bet looks the way to go.

Apprentice Trent Mayhew has been in good form of late with 11 winners and 49 places on the clock so far. He is currently a 4kg claimer so still has nine wins to go before his allowance is reduced and he can trim that total down by one when he gets aboard Khanyisa Indlela in this MR 72 Handicap over 1700m.

The five-year-old gelding has been struggling to get back into the winner’s box but has been close a couple of times in the last 12 months and the slight drop in distance from 2000m should suit him.

Khanyisa Indlela is right at home on the Polytrack and he is worth a strike.

Wright teams up with Rachel Venniker who rides Winter Waves in Race 5, a MR 73 Handicap over 1600m.

Winter Waves does not always show his best but looked as good as ever when scoring last time out with Venniker aboard.

The handicapper adjusted his rating by a massive eight points but it will take a brave punter not to include Winter Waves in all exotics. He has been running over 1400m lately but is a winner over this course and distance.
