Cleansing your home

- Hein Kaiser

Ever walked into a home and there’s just a negative vibe or woken up one day and your house just doesn’t feel like a home for some strange reason? You might need to harmonise the energy, because it can impact the wellbeing of everyone who lives there.

There is a growing trend in the United States where energy stylists use traditional ritual coupled with some 21st century vuma to realign the energies inside a home.

A consultation covers the entire property, the land, the residence, outbuildings, and objects like furniture. These cleansings or realignments have also started taking off in South Africa.

“Energy harmonisation in a home is paramount because the arrangement and flow of energy within a space can influence the wellbeing and harmony of its occupants,” said healer and energy stylist Anna-Mare Viviers.

“While factors like natural light, ventilation, cleanliness, and organisation play a significant role, energy harmonisation can contribute to a comfortable and positive living environment.

“If you are sensitive, you will feel something ‘off’ in a home. If you are not sensitive, you may just experience that the family members are not living in harmony.

“This type of energy comes from the inhabitants of the home, and it can be caused by perpetual fights or arguments, but can also often be brought in from outside, like energies that the occupants bring with them from work.”

Denver Ramnath, a realtor for twenty-seven years, said that it makes sense to him.

“Some clients view a home and get a real feel for it, so to speak. They talk about how a home feels as if they could live there, while for others, comments again include feeling based experiences where they say that there is a ‘bad vibe’ in the home,” he said.

“A house could be perfect in every other sense, but it’s critical that it either feels right or not to a client.”

Ramnath said that there must be something to energy realignment of a home.

Energy harmonisation takes the environment and uplifts it, said Viviers. “We would use tools such as protection or uplifting sprays, bells, singing bowls, incense, crystals, sound and other sacred tools to uplift and harmonise the energy in the environment,” she said. Once done, the energies will feel lighter.

Poor, negative, or stagnant energy has a very negative impact on a home, and its residents. This type of energy often leads to lethargy, bad luck, depression, family fights, anger, and aggression, all the negative interactions that we are trying to avoid at all costs, said Viviers.

Healers and psychics usually perform these realignments.

“It’s normally done by taking a walk through the home, and sensing or feeling where the energies are off,” she said.

“I have the owner of the home walk with me, explaining the layout of the home, and who lives where, after that, I walk through the house alone, and ‘feel’ where the energy doesn’t feel uplifted.”

Viviers said that realigning a home’s energy could take as little as two hours. Some consultants in America have spent up to four days cleansing and re-energising a home. Duration depends on the complexity of the challenge.

Ramnath said that while energy realignment of a home has never been on his radar before, it’s a good call for homeowners and potential buyers to consider.

“It just makes sense. The usual criteria for a home, size, position, proximity to amenities and schools, the practical stuff doesn’t impact individuals as much as how the home feels when they walk through it,” he said.

In the US, many homeowners have taken to annual realignments beyond treating the property prior to putting it on the market.

“Everyone wants to feel good, and live in a happy and harmonious environment,” said Viviers.
