TAB gives pools R1.5-m boost!

You can bet on an array of games from the world’s top leagues in TAB soccer pools this weekend, including eight PSL matches, and TAB is ratcheting up the excitement by adding a mammoth R1.5 million to seven pools from Friday through Sunday

Champions League action resumed last night and continues tonight as the top clubs in Europe chase the world’s most coveted club title. Tonight’s two first-leg fixtures in the round of 16 see Paris St Germain looking to avoid their usual early exit, while Bayern must overcome their domestic woes to stay in the hunt for European glory.

PSG have tumbled out in the last-16 in five of their last six Champions League campaigns, despite their long list of highprofile signings. But the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar are long gone and there is more of a homogenous feel to the club.

The French champions must, however, lift their Champions League form if they are to establish a decent advantage over Real Sociedad tonight. They scraped through to this round by finishing second in Group F, despite failing to win last three group games. But a 1-1 draw with group winners Borussia Dortmund was enough for them to finish above AC Milan in third on goal difference.

Historically, the Parisians have struggled to win against Spanish opposition in Champions League knockout rounds. But Luis Enrique's side will fancy their chances of firstleg success as they have only lost seven of their last 72 home matches in European competitions, winning 46 and drawing the remaining 19.

Lazio will be hoping their passionate home fans help them gain an advantage over Bayern, even though the Germans beat the Italian outfit 6-2 on aggregate at this stage in the 2020-21 competition. Bayern suffered a bad loss to Leverkusen in the Bundesliga at the weekend and Lazio will hope that has knocked their confidence.

There’s a smashing weekend ahead with add-ins totalling R1.5 million to selected TAB bets, including two Soccer 10 pools that could each total R3 million! And, of course, the DStv Premiership returns with all clubs in action as they try to settle who will finish second behind Mamelodi Sundowns. The runaway leaders are at home to Orlando Pirates and could underline their domestic dominance.

HIRED/FIRED: Nine coaches were dismissed or quit after the Africa Cup of Nations finals, a veritable bloodbath with highprofile casualties like 2019 winner Djamel Belmadi of Algeria.

BACK IN ACTION: Erling Haaland’s two goals last weekend for Manchester City completed his successful return from injury and is an ominous sign for City’s rivals over the coming months.

WHO’S HOT: Bayer Leverkusen’s 3-0 weekend win over Bayern Munich in their top-of-thetable clash suggests that the Bavarian’s dominance of the Bundesliga is coming to an end.

WHO’S COLD: The Premier Soccer League belatedly cancelled their midweek fixtures because Bafana Bafana are only returning to South Africa today. The decision could have been made earlier because it was known the squad would have to stay until the end once they made the semi-finals.
