IMPROVEMENT: MUZI’S MOUNT WAS A RUNAWAY WINNER LAST TIME WHEN FITTED WITH BLINKERS

- Muzi Yeni

Big run expected from Wing Of Change at Kenilworth.

Last week saw the running of the Grade 3 Betway London News Stakes and we saw Litigation dominate the race from the front with a convincing win to back up his previous win. He looks to have matured now and he is a horse I thought was a massive runner in the Betway Summer Cup, and it’s nice to see him starting to reproduce what has been thought of him.

Bless My Stars ran a fair race after a rest, and she probably needed the run so expect improvement next time out.

Since returning from suspension, I’ve managed to have two winners through the week, but I will be hoping to improve that number drastically over the next week.

Racing today takes place at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth and it’s the Cape summer season finale with the headliner on the card being the Grade 1 SplashOut Cape Derby.

There are also five other features on the card, and it promises to be another lovely day’s racing.

I have five rides and we will briefly discuss a couple of them as well as the main race.

Racing tomorrow takes place at Turffontein where there is a nine-race card on offer. The headliner is the Grade 3 Betway National Currency Sprint over 1100m named after one of the great sprinters in recent times.

I remember this horse’s brilliance like it was yesterday and the way he demolished the field in Dubai is a memory that will stay with me for a long time.

Once again, it’s lovely to see a horse relevant to our time being recognised and appreciated.

I also have five rides at Turffontein and I’ll be hoping to get a winner on the board.

As far as the Grade 1 Splashout Cape Derby is concerned I think Green With Envy will take all the beating and could be a banker in all bets.

His last win was sensational considering he came from a long way back, but also because he has to give weight away and there is no reason he should not follow up.

Beach Bomb is a superstar filly and although she disappointed in her last start, I believe she is still the main danger.

As far as my rides are concerned, I feel my best ride is Wing Of Change in Race 3. He gave me such a lovely feel on debut after getting left at the start and I am expecting a huge run from him.

I also give myself a big chance on Ripple Effect in Race 6 after her really good win on Met Day.

She has class and I’m happy she has come back to form, so a big run can be expected.

Moving on to Turffontein tomorrow, Race 1 is a Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1000m and I ride I Belong who is a nicely bred horse who shows some good work at home.

I believe he will improve for the run, but I’ll be hoping to run into the money.

However, my best bet on the card comes up in the form of Cymric. He is a lovely individual who ran a cracker of a race on debut two weeks ago against what I believe to be the best two-year-old in the country, Pistol Pete.

He will know more about racing and with natural improvement, he’ll be very hard to beat.

Legend Of Arthur is a very well-bred expensive yearling and it’s important to watch the betting for a guide to his chances.

Race 2 is a Maiden Juvenile Plate for fillies over 1000m and there are a few wellbred unraced horses, so keep a close eye on the betting and watch them canter to the post because this will be your best guide to their chances.

Of the raced runners I think Golden Chandelier sets the standard and is the horse to beat.

She has improved with every run and has a lot in her favour.

Kindred Heart ran well at this course last week and if the second-run-after-arest syndrome doesn’t affect her, she is a definite danger.

There was lots of money on Gaelic Dancer on debut and she disappointed somewhat. If she produces what she was showing at home then she is another to consider.

Race 3 is a Maiden Juvenile Plate for fillies over 1400m and I ride Mother City who ran a lovely race on debut after which the form has been franked in no uncertain terms.

She steps up in trip and if that brings further improvement then she is a definite runner.

Too Late My Mate ran very well on debut, finishing the race off nicely. She will know a lot more about it this time and she rates the horse to beat.

Intro has improved with every run and should enjoy the step up in trip, so she is a definite inclusion in all bets.

Race 4 is the TAB Bauhinia Handicap (Non-Black Type) for fillies and mares over 1000m and even though it’s a small field, it is filled with quality.

I do think Troppo Veloce is the filly they all have to beat as she is racing fit and comes off a really good win last time out.

Golden Sickle goes for four in a row and rates the main danger. She does return from a small break and that’s my only concern but if close to peak fitness she’ll be right there. These two horses should fight out the finish.

Race 5 is a MR 74 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1400m and I think Princess Ilaria is the horse they all have to beat.

Her last win was against the colts and it was convincing enough to suggest she can follow up.

Although she gives weight all round, I think she sets the standard.

Western Wishes ran a nice race after a rest last time but she’s had to travel from KZN to Joburg and if the second run after a rest doesn’t affect her then she is a definite danger.

Miss Shaivi has some good form and can win if she produces it this time.

Race 6 is a Middle Stakes over 1400m and

I ride Bob’s Your Uncle who comes in off bottom weight and is in good form, so another honest run can be expected.

We all have Mid Winter Wind to beat as I believe he has tons of ability and is still way underrated. He gave me a lovely feel when I won on him and if the 1400m suits him, then he’ll be hard to beat.

Laguna Verde won a good race last time out and has a chance, but it won’t be easy for him to give all this weight away.

Brave Viking was disappointing last time out but excuses can be made because of the going and if he bounces back to best he is a definite runner.

Race 7 is the Grade 3 Betway National Currency Sprint over 1100m and I ride Ziyasha who I make my value bet on the card.

The blinkers clearly made the world of difference last time out, when he demolished a very good field, and a repeat of that will see him be right there.

Of course, we all have the superb Lucky Lad to beat, and class wise he looks to be sensational, but he returns from a lengthy rest and I really don’t think he will be at peak fitness, and because of that, I believe I can win this race.

Cliff Hanger is in good form and has an each-way chance.

Cullinan Blue was unlucky last time and gets the sex allowance which will assist her, and a massive run can be expected.

One Fell Swoop comes in with a light weight and has an each-way chance also.

Race 8 is a MR 68 Handicap over 1160m and I think Van Meijel is the horse to beat. He won a good race last time out, after being dropped in trip and with the addition of blinkers.

I do believe he is better than his current rating, and on that I think he is the horse to beat.

Red Carpet Girl ran a good race last time out and rates a definite danger.

Lil Miss Moneybags carries top weight and although it won’t be easy, she must be included in all bets.

Golden Aspen and Written In Stone must be included into wider bets.

Race 9 is a MR 86 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1000m and I ride Happy Analia who drops back in class after contesting a feature race last time out. I think prior to that she won two in a row, so she has a definite each-way chance.

Virginia Beach is the filly I think we all have to beat on her last two starts. She took on really good fillies and even though she returns from a small break, she sets the standard.

Nettleton goes for three in a row and has a definite chance.

Woman Of Fame must be included in all bets after a few good last runs.

Work Of Time and Virgin River both have lots of scope and could potentially be underrated, so they must go into all bets.
