- Citizen reporter

Deal or No Deal South Africa moved to a new home when its second season kicked off on Monday.

Viewers can now catch season 2 of the game show on SABC2 on weekdays at 6.30pm.

The Afrikaans News migrated to SABC3 in a new timeslot at 8.30pm.

These scheduling adjustments follow SABC Video Entertainment’s decision to dovetail Skeem Saam

and Generations – The Legacy on SABC1 as part of the broadcaster’s strategy to amplify its primetime local drama offering. From Monday, Skeem Saam moved to the 7.30pm timeslot on SABC1 that was occupied by season 1 of Deal or No Deal.

Since launching on SABC1 a year ago, the game show has transformed the lives of many contestants with big dreams – whether they wanted to further their studies, kickstart a business, invest in their children’s education, or fund a special project.

Contestants can win anything between R1 and R250 000.

It all depends on the order in which they select to open a series of numbered sealed boxes and how they deal with the banker’s offers to buy the box they have chosen for themselves.

To date, the total winnings on this life-changing show amount to more than R5 million.

“We are immensely proud of Deal or No Deal

and how it has brought smiles and excitement to many Mzansi homes,” said Jan du Plessis from Primedia Studios, the television content hub spearheading the production of the show.

Besides boosting the aspirations of hundreds of contestants, this family-friendly game of chance quickly became a mega-hit. While the new season will have all the thrilling elements that will make more viewers fall in love with the show, loyal fans are in for some delightful surprises.
