Bookies favourites

Pecco Bagnaia

The two-time champion is instilled as the favourite to go three-peat in 2024 with most bookmakers, and the Ducati man would seem like a safe enough bet. The 27-year-old Italian last season showed huge courage to return straight to track only days after a racing incident which saw Bard Binder ride over his legs. He did concede points while struggling to regain full fitness, but the points he did earn while injured proved crucial in winning the title race for the second consecutive time.

Marc Marquez

Some bookmakers are so confident in the Spaniard’s move from Honda to Ducati that they have Marquez as the odds-favourite to win a seventh premier class crown. The reality is that the 31-year-old has not won the title since 2019 and have suffered numerous crashes and injury setbacks over the last few seasons. But Marquez is still regarded as the most aggressive rider on the grid and if anyone can turn back the clock, its him. Especially on the best bike in the premier class.

Jorge Martin

The 26-year-old Spaniard came within touching distance of MotoGP glory in 2023, taking the title fight to the last race before crashing out in disappointing fashion. The fact that most bookmakers offering short odds on the Ducati rider to win his maiden premier class crown in 2024 is an indication of the threat he poses to the others.

Enea Bastianini

The 26-year-old 2020 Moto2 champion will be out to prove a point after a horror season in 2023 – his first as Bagnaia’s Ducati team-mate – which saw him ruled out for long periods with serious injuries. In 2022 the Italian claimed four wins, to finish third in the title race.

The Spanish teenager has got the tongues wagging. After claiming the Moto3 title in his rookie year in 2021 and being crowned intermediate class champ in his second Moto2 season last year, he will make his MotoGP debut for KTM’s satellite team – Red Bull GasGas Tech3 in 2024. After showing great pace straight of the bat on a premier class bike, he is considered to be a dark horse.
