Follow Fourie at Fairview on Friday

- Jack Milner

Jockey Richard Fourie looks set for another good day at Fairview today.

He has a decent ride in the form of Splice the main brace in the feature race on the day, the East Cape Fillies Nursery (Listed) over 1200m, and also has a good chance to win Race 5 with Grazing in the grass and Race 6 with Joy And Peace.

Splice the main brace is unbeaten in two starts, having narrowly won her debut over 800m and followed that up with an impressive two-length win over Magdala in a 1000m race.

On debut, the Master Of My Fate filly had a battle with rival in this Happy Holly over the final 200m and only got up on the line to win by a short head.

There is a 2.5kg swing in favour of Splice the main brace this time around as Happy Holly was ridden by a 2.5kg claiming apprentice on that occasion.

Happy Holly did go one better in her next start but was only a shorthead winner over Magical River.

That rival is running in this race and was beaten 3.60 lengths by Alan Greeff-trained Splice the main brace in her next start.

Splice the main brace, when winning her second start, was caught a long way back early on but made continuous progress and scored impressively despite hanging. The extra 200m this time will definitely suit her.

Joy And Peace in Race 6, the Oaks Plate over 1800m, has ability but she has been costly to follow so far.

The Master Of My Fate filly has been quickening late over shorter distances and it has been a common belief that the best of her will be seen when stepped up in distance. She gets that opportunity this time.

Fourie was not seen at his best on Grazing in the grass last time out.

He was caught too far back and did well to finish as close as he did at the line.

Grazinginthegrass has been at his very best over 1600m, which is the distance of Race 5, a Pinnacle Stakes, so, as the best weighted runner, he can bounce back to score.
