TV personality Matheba fuels rumour mill
IS she single or not? That is the question being asked on social media about television and radio personality Bonang Matheba since New Year’s Eve.
This comes after her friend and choreographer Somizi Mhlongo posted a picture of Matheba cosying up to Nigerian musician D’Banj on the back seat of a luxurious black Bentley.
The picture shows the 27year-old Top Billing presenter clad in white with matching pearls as she rests her Christian Louboutin red-bottomed heels on the partition of the car.
Her eyes are locked on the Oliver Twist singer – real name Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo – who is signed to US rapper Kanye West’s recording label. Minutes after posting the picture, Mhlongo deleted it, but it was too late as many were sold on the affair.
One Twitter user @Yaya–wxlf wrote: “But Bonang and Dbanj actually look good together.”
“I had to buy data, reset my password and login on insta. Yup, Bonang is dating Dbanj. She looks so happy,” wrote @Semaki–.
This is not the first of Matheba’s relationships to make news. Even her first public love with Skwatta Kamp rapper Siyabonga “Slikour” Metane was news.
After their split, Matheba was linked with Themba “DJ Euphonik” Nkosi but the pair denied their union until three years ago, when Matheba filed charges of physical assault against Nkosi.
Three months ago, Matheba admitted to dating Nkosi for four years and even mentioned intentions of marrying him in a magazine cover story.
But those dreams seem to have faded for the “IT” girl.
Instead she welcomed in the new year in Lagos where she and pals Mhlongo and make-up artist Nthato Mashishi have been on holiday since December 30.
They are said to be guests in D’Banj’s house and have been partying with the star.
Matheba does not seem worried about the rumour mill as she too has since posted a picture of herself and D’Banj gazing at each other. But she still maintains she is single.
Her spokesman, Zoe Msutwana, said: “Bonang is single. She and D’Banj are just close friends.”
