OUT-of-work former Chippa United coach Roger Sikhakhane has attracted the attention of three Premier Soccer League teams, according to his manager.

Abbie Rasimphi was reluctant to provide names of the clubs as negotiations are still under way but it is believed two of the sides are battling to stave off relegation.

“I cannot mention the names of the clubs until we have reached an agreement but, yes, definitely, there are three PSL teams interested in signing Roger as head coach,” he said.

“Once we have finalised everything we will announce which team Roger will go to.”

But Sikhakhane did hint to The Herald last week that two of the clubs were trying to stave off relegation.

“I might join one of the teams which are struggling in the PSL. They are in the same bracket as Chippa United.

“I cannot say which team it is because we have not finalised everything yet. But you can read between the lines as to who the struggling teams are.

“I still have to decide and take the right decision before I sign anything. At the moment I am still at home in KwaZulu-Natal,” Sikhakhane said.

The Durban-born coach was axed by Chippa United chairman Siviwe Mpengesi in December for not producing results. He was replaced by German Ernst Middendorp, who is still seeking to record his first win for the club since taking over.

The Port Elizabeth-based PSL team have dropped two places on the log to 11th position since Sikhakhane’s departure.

Chippa travel to Pretoria to face Sundowns in their next PSL encounter tomorrow night.
