Parlotones visit PE on album tour

AS part of their month-long album tour, South African rock band The Parlotones are performing in Port Elizabeth tonight at 33 Chapel Street Studios in Central.

The award-winning group are on their Antiques and Artefacts album tour and plan to wow fans with new tracks as well as old favourites from previous albums, including hits from their much-acclaimed Stand like Giants, album which was released two years ago.

“The Parlotones have a strong and loyal fanbase here in Port Elizabeth which keeps them coming back,” said Michelle Campbell, owner of Michelle Campbell Publicity.

“The group will perform songs they’ve written, produced and launched themselves since it’s the first time they have released an album without any assistance from a record label.”

Michelle said that every time The Parlotones have performed in PE they have had sold-out shows. The four members – Kahn Morbee, Neil Pauw, Paul Hodgson and Glen Hodgson – will deliver rocking hits like 2009’s Push Me To The Floor, as well as newer material.

“As part of our ‘Music is for Everybody platform’, local artist Themba Jack will be the opening act for tonight’s gig. We bring great artists to PE and make sure our local acts get a chance to shine against the national artists,” Campbell said.

Jack used to be the frontman for former Port Elizabeth Afrojazz band, the New Afro-Teens.

The popular group – started when the members were in their teens – has now disbanded as individuals have grown up and gone their different ways.

Tickets cost R200 at Computicket and VIP tickets R300. Doors open at 6pm.
