Pimped out rally for a good cause

WACKY outfits, pimped out cars and some dusty roads are some of the attractions that drivers can expect at the Jam Jar Rally, which starts tomorrow at Something Good.

The event, the brainchild of Paul Engler, is a chance for car enthusiasts to connect during a three-day rally for charity.

It starts at 7am and the rules to enter are simple.

Teams must consist of four people, with no cars or drivers being under the age of 30.

The price of the car – all its trimmings – should not exceed R130 000.

Entry fee for the rally is R700 per person.

Teams have to complete certain challenges like the first event, which is a race in reverse, and being blind-folded while driving.

This starts at Cross Ways Farm Village, Thornhill, at about 8am.

Points are awarded for challenges completed and prizes will be awarded to the overall winner, best pimped car and best dressed team.

The entire distance to be covered is about 800km, most of which will be gravel roads.

The routes, challenges and various charities will be made clear prior to the race.

Race entrant Julian Munro said it was more of a charity event than a competitive rally.

“This year we will be taking a large suitcase of clothing. This will be donated to various charities along the route,” Munro said.
