Wodumo a rising star on tube, radio

-

BABES Wodumo is a breath of fresh air in South Africa’s entertainment industry, which is often ruled by hot air.

The Durban artist, 22, has become somewhat of an overnight sensation – with her music video reaching more than a million views on YouTube.

Entertainment Monitoring Africa said yesterday Wodumo’s first hit single‚ Wololo – featuring Big Nuz’s Mampintsha – was the most played local song on South African radio.

Wodumo, real name Bongekile Simelane, is determined not to be a one-hit-wonder. Her secret is “gqom”, a house music sub-genre that originates from the Durban townships and her “magic ball” moves. – Leonie Wagner
