High-tail your way to ‘Puss in Boots’ audition
THE famous feline with a fondness for fancy footwear will be making an appearance in the Pemads Little Theatre at the end of the year – and auditions for this show are being held tomorrow and Sunday.
Pemads – the Port Elizabeth Musical and Dramatic Society – are turning Charles Perrault’s classic fairytale, Puss in Boots, on its head and promise that a tantalising “tail” awaits Bay audiences!
From the producers of the very successful production of Snow White in 2014, Puss in Boots: The Pantomime promises to delight audience members of all ages.
This year’s family panto will be directed by husband-andwife team Mark and Yolande Farrow, with Richard Campbell as musical director.
It will run from November 30 to December 17.
Auditions will be held at the Little Theatre at the Athenaeum in Belmont Terrace as follows:
Tomorrow 9am to 1pm: Singing auditions
Sunday 9am to 1pm: Dance auditions and call-backs.

Hopefuls must prepare a song that shows off their full vocal range. Sheet music or a backing track is permitted.
Everyone will be required to do the dance audition on Sunday, even if you don’t consider yourself much of a dancer.
Various roles are available, among them:
Fairy Priscilla: A good fairy. Adult female.
Pernicia: Priscilla’s sister, a bad fairy. Female, older teen or adult.
Bobbie: The Royal Page. Male or female, older teen or adult.
Jasper: The miller’s son. Male, older teen or adult.
Jethro: Also the miller’s son. Male, older teen or adult.
Babs: A village girl. In love with Jasper. Female, older teen or adult.
Besides individual roles (chat to Yolande for details) there are all-ages chorus/ensemble roles.
Dancers are also needed as part of the chorus. Excellent dancers who can act and sing will be given preference.
