Wafa league title race thriller

IT will be down to the final match of the season next week before the Wafa Premier League champions are crowned.

African Aces appeared to be sitting pretty with a five-point lead until Mabayibone Strikers won the protest against Ghetto Stars during the week to reduce the lead to two points.

On Saturday, Strikers thrashed Eleven Experience 4-1 to go one point ahead of Aces. Both Aces and Strikers have one match remaining.

Walmer Stars ended Peace United’s slender title hopes when they beat United 2-1.

Golden Heroes also saw their title hopes dashed when they lost 3-1 to Ghetto.

Morning Stars scored the biggest win of the weekend thrashing Brazil United 5-1. WEST Lake reversed the first-round result when they played Celtic in Windvogel on Saturday to stay in touch with the frontrunne­rs in the Nafa Premier League. They won 3-2 to remain third. Wolves avenged their 2-0 defeat in the first round against Ebenezer on Gelvan 1.

Fairdene eased their relegation worries with a 5-1 win over Lads who remain firmly entrenched at the bottom of the log.

Despite picking up a point against Blackpool with a 1-1 draw, Saints remain outside the top eight. Results: Blackpool 2 Saints 2, West Lake 3 Celtic 2, Fairdene 5 Lads 1, Wolves 2 Ebenezer 0
