HIGH SCHOOL PUPILS HELD FOR MURDER

I THINK these kids should be tried in an adult court and pay for their crime (“‘Pupil’ hijacks, kills PE woman”, September 13). This dear woman was a daughter, a mother and maybe a grandma. These children knew what they were doing, so I feel the punishment should fit the crime. This government should leave the parents alone to raise their children according to Bible principles, then our youth will turn out to be responsible people. I received spankings when I was a child and it did me good. In fact I thank my parents for chastising me and so I did the same to my children. My condolences to this dear woman’s family, rest in peace Magda.

READER

THEY must rot in jail. We sent them to school, not to take another person’s life. Magda must rest in peace.

OBSERVER

KILLER pupils – products of the new South Africa. If they want to drive and shoot, sentence them like adults and show us their faces.

CRUEL KILLING OF BABY

WHAT a cruel, horrible world we live in. Hope the person who killed the four-month-old baby (“Mom witnesses killer attack on little baby”, September 13) never sees daylight again!

SARAH

BRING back the death sentence! Having read of so many children being raped and murdered recently I am certain that if the government had the initiative to have a referendum “the people” would join together for once and vote yes!

RUBBISH COLLECTORS ON STRIKE

SO for the third time since the DA was granted power, no one has collected our black bags, not that we see any rebate for services not rendered. To top it all, my electricity bill has ballooned from R1 000-odd a month to R3 500.

“TRASH dumped at City Hall” (September 14): why was this not done before the elections? Why bring up things that happened in 2000 and the ‘70s? This should have been done under the ANC (lack of) leadership.

NEEDS HELP WITH CIRCUMCISION FUNDS

A 20-YEAR-OLD orphaned boy, a Grade 11 pupil, desperately wants to become a man. He lost his parents when he was 10 years-old and is staying with his foster aunt, who is currently critically ill. He only needs two goats to perform African rituals and new clothes to wear after the circumcision school. Any willing to assist him must kindly contact 079-853-4441 and I will also grant him or her an opportunity to meet the boy.

STOP THE COMMENTS ON RACISM

CAN we please, fellow South Africans, put these racism comments to rest because they are boring and tiring now. Can we live as one people and leave those who cling to racism aloof on a satanic island?

EXCLUSION POLICY SELECTIVE

I REFER to the refusal to allow Steven Anderson (aka gay hater) into the good old RSA (“Pastor and activists ‘are actually allies’ ”, September 14). While I agree that this sort of person is unacceptable, the government has previously allowed similar or worse people into the country. Some of these have been heads of state who have been involved in genocide and whose countries condemn gays to death. Our pal Bob Mugabe is a prime gay basher, yet is welcomed in SA like a national hero.

MUNICIPALITY MUST STEP IN

WALMER properties (“What’s happening to derelict Walmer houses?”, September 6, “Demolition by neglect in Walmer” and “Hazards in derelict houses”, September 13): should not the municipality get involved with these houses that have been left derelict? The owners of the properties should be given a ultimatum to build or sell, failing which the land is sold by auction. We can’t go on like this.
