Horrified to hear of protest at school

-

AS a very proud old Collegiate girl I am absolutely horrified to hear of the proposed protest taking place at the school this morning. The thing that makes Collegiate so great is its tradition and high standards, which have nothing at all to do with race.

No girl is forced to go to Collegiate. I would think that one chooses to go there because of the traditions and high standards, academically and socially.

Every girl receives the school’s code of conduct and behaviour, which she signs, thereby agreeing to abide by the rules.

If she (or her parents) does not agree with this code of conduct she is free to find another school whose standards meet her requirements – not enrol and then protest to change the rules or the decisions of the school authorities. Nothing like this has ever happened in the past and the mere fact that the principal (and probably the governing body) even entertains the idea of meeting these protesters is mind-boggling.

What has happened to this school, which we, the old girls, love and are so proud to be associated with? I wonder how long Collegiate will be able to retain the good reputation it has always enjoyed, or will it be a case of another one “bites the dust”?

I am saddened beyond belief.
