A PORT Elizabeth man who went by the alias of “James Bond 00711” pleaded guilty yesterday to the possession and distribution of child pornography.

Jayde Bailey, 34, of Westering, said he had been introduced to Gigatribe, a network of videos and photographs of children engaged in sexual acts, while surfing the internet for child pornography.

In some of the clips the newborns and babies, still in nappies, were being raped, tortured and murdered.

Bailey told the Port Elizabeth Regional Court yesterday that he had uploaded and downloaded explicit photographs and videos through Gigatribe for his own sexual pleasure.

His 22-year-old friend, who is accused alongside him, said she would plead not guilty to the charges. She will accordingly stand trial in November after state advocate Jason Thysse asked for a separation of trials.

The woman cannot be named until she formally pleads to the charges.

The two were arrested on March 16 last year after police uncovered two hard drives containing 560 sexually explicit images and 401 videos which contained child pornography during a raid on Bailey’s Fourie Street, Westering home.

“While on Gigatribe you have access to individuals who can send you child pornography,” Bailey said in a statement read to the court by lawyer Paul Roelofse.

He will be sentenced on November 24, when a trial date for the woman will also be arranged.
