Inter-LFA soccer action
THE senior Safa-NMB regional Inter-Local Football Association (LFA) tournament kicks off at three venues this evening.
Two men’s matches will be played at Zwide Stadium and KwaDwesi fields, with two for women at Westbourne Oval.
Teams from all LFAs will gather at Walmer Sports Grounds for the next round.
The LFAs will play a round robin, with the finals on Sunday.
Fixtures: Tonight: Men: Mofa v Nodefa, Nafa v Zafa (Zwide Stadium), Peefa v Nebfa, Ifa v Zwifa (KwaDwesi). Women: Wafa v Nebfa, Nodefa v Nafa (Westbourne Oval). Tomorrow (Walmer): Men: Ground 1: Nebfa v Nodefa, Kuygafa v Wafa, Pefa v Ifa, Mofa v Nebfa, Wafa v Larofa. Ground 2: Peefa v Mofa, Penfa v Nafa, Nodefa v Peefa, Zwifa v Pefa. Women: Ground 3: Peefa v Kuygafa, Larofa v Nodefa, Zafa v Zwifa, Nafa v Larofa, Kuygafa v Pefa. Ground 4: Zwifa v Zafa, Nafa v Wafa, Pefa v Peefa, Nebfa v Mofa. Sunday: Men: Larofa v Kuygafa, Zafa v Penfa, quarterfinals, semifinals, final. TEAMS from eight companies will compete in the annual Old Mutual Corporate Soccer Challenge at Uitenhage’s People Pavilion tomorrow.
The teams will play a straight knockout, with semifinals and finals later in the day.
Hosts Volkswagen Masters play Transnet in the first match starting at 9am. The other companies are Goodyear, Shatterprufe, Makro, SPAR, Continental and DHL.
The winners will receive a set of jerseys, a floating trophy and medals.
There will be lucky draws and hampers for spectators. A DJ will provide entertainment all day.
