AFTER playing to a goalless draw against Matatiele Professionals in their previous fixture, Callies managed to bounce back to their winning ways at the weekend, beating WSU 1-0.

The Bay side remain unbeaten in the ABC Motsepe League this season from five matches played so far.

Callies have banked three wins and two draws in the league this season. The league rookies are fifth on the log with 11 points.

Another side who have not lost a game in the league so far is Lion City, second on the log last season.

A single goal from Freedom Funani in the second half saw City beat Highbury FC 1-0 in a league derby to keep their unbeaten run in the league.

The Motherwell side have three wins and two draws from five matches played so far.

They are sixth on the log so far with 11 points.

City team manager Sydwell Temele said the match was balanced, as both sides had equal shots at goal.

“In the first half we were more attacking, but we failed to convert our chances,” he said.

“After our goal in the second we changed our play to defensive because we did not want to lose the points we had at the time.

“However, we were not too defensive, as we missed out on two scoring opportunities in the dying moments of the game.”

Meanwhile, Subs were beaten 4-0 by EC Bees. The team has been without a win in three league matches.

They are 14th on the log with four points from five games.

The Motherwell side have recorded one win and a draw, and lost three matches.
