Win free bets on Algoa Cup

CORPORATE bookmaking chain Betting World is celebratin­g its sponsorshi­p of the Betting World Algoa Cup at Fairview on Sunday October by giving away free bets totalling R30 000, plus six Sansui tablet PCs and a Sansui fridge in giveaways and a losing-ticket competitio­n.

The competitio­n is being held across six Betting World outlets three in Port Elizabeth and three in Uitenhage. The relevant branches are: Uitenhage: * Spectrum: 8 Bucwa Street, KwaNobuhle * Crown: 142 Caledon Street * KwaNobuhle: 37 Shoprite Complex, Matanzima Road Port Elizabeth: * Swartkops: 79 Old Grahamstow­n Road, Swartkops

* Commercial: 138 Commercial Road, Sidwell

* Newton Park: 15 Newton Street, Newton Park

The first draw for winners took place in the six outlets last Friday and the competitio­n continues this week. It’s easy to stand a chance a chance of winning a prize, Betting World customers in the six branches must write their name and ID and cell phone numbers on the back of losing tickets and deposit the tickets in a special competitio­n box.

The second draw for winners is this Friday when five R200 Betting World vouchers and merchandis­e will be given away at each of the participat­ing outlets.

Then on Saturday, the 30 Uitenhage betting voucher winners from last Friday and the Friday before must go to the KwaNobuhle branch, where the draw for the three tablet PCs will take place. The 30 Port Elizabeth betting voucher winners must go to the Newton Park outlet for the draw for the three tablet PCs.

Betting World representa­tives will also give away betting vouchers:

* 25 x R200 vouchers at Fairview at the race meeting this Friday (only valid for the Fairview meeting on Sunday).

* 30 x R100 vouchers this Saturday at the Newton Park branch (valid for that day) and 50 x R100 vouchers valid for the Fairview meeting on Sunday. A losing ticket competitio­n will also be held with a grand prize of a Sansui fridge and five tickets to the Algoa Cup.

* 50 x R100 vouchers at Fairview on Betting World Algoa Cup Day on Sunday.

Betting World will also give away vouchers to the owners of winning horses on Algoa Cup Day. These vouchers will only be redeemable on opening a Betting World account (vouchers for existing accounthol­ders will be doubled).

There will be a panel discussion about the Betting World Algoa Cup at a special function in aid of the East Cape Horse Care Unit at Fairview Racecourse on Friday evening hosted by race caller and Betting World brand manager Nico Kritsiotis. Betting World will present a cheque for R10 000 to the Eastern Cape Horse Care Unit.

Meanwhile the final field for the Grade 3 Algoa Cup was announced yesterday and the Justin Snaith yard will send out five of the 16 runners.

Champion trainer Sean Tarry has brought two horses to contest the race, Cagiva with Lyle Hewitson up, and Halve The Deficit, to be ridden by S’manga Khumalo.

Local hopes could rest with Alan Greeff-trained Welsh Emperor.
