Spurs face tough challenge against Madibaz

- Mogan Segadavan

HIGH-RIDING Highland Spurs could meet their match on Sunday when they host NMMU Madibaz in a Safa-NMB SAB League match at the Jabavu Stadium.

Spurs were in scintillating form last week, thrashing newcomers Hearts 5-0 and winning their opening match against Uitenhage neighbours Island City 2-1.

The students ground out a 1-0 win over Camper United and could have shared the points with Fairview Rovers last week after going down 2-1.

“Madibaz have an excellent team and made us fight all the way,” Rovers head coach Brendon Prince said.

“We are happy with the points, but we need some of our players to put up their hands.”

Rovers entertain Young Cosmos at the Marock Road field.

Motherwell Academy will be hoping to complete the double over Central Acemates when the two Pefa affiliates clash at the Westbourne Oval.

In a Nedbank Cup match at the same venue, Motherwell won 8-4. They are on a high with maximum points from their first two matches and the win over Acemates in their cup game.

Acemates lost 1-0 to Young Cosmos in their opening league match. Last week, their match against Royal Bucks was called off after match officials failed to turn up.

Hearts will not find it easy to pick up their first points when they play unbeaten Despatch Pioneers at the Khayanmandi Stadium.
