Framesby win parent-teacher contest
FRAMESBY took the honours in the second Parent-Educator School Golf Challenge at Humewood last week.
In an initiative set up by Mark Wiltshire Golf and Humewood Golf Club, the challenge enables teams of parents and teachers to represent their chosen school in a quarterly challenge at the links course.
Parents, grandparents and teachers form a team of four to take part in an individual stableford competition, the three best scores in each four-ball counting towards the overall standings.
St Dominic’s Priory took the honours in the opening round in August, but this time Framesby ended on top with 106 points.
They were followed by St Andrew’s and Framesby B in second place, both on 105 points.
The challenge has grown since its opening competition in August when seven schools competed for bragging rights.
Fifteen schools entered last week’s leg, although three teams had to withdraw.
Thanks to the Mark Wiltshire Group sponsorship, Framesby walked away with R3 000, while St Andrew’s picked up R2 000.
The leading individual players were Luc Nagels (St Andrew’s, 40 points), Trevor von Berg (Woodridge, 39 pts) and Jacques Robson (Framesby, 38 pts).
In picking up the victory last week, Framesby emerged as overall winners for this year.
They won for their school: R5 000, golf fun (a two-hour team-building exercise for staff), one four-ball and two two-ball vouchers, a complimentary four-ball in the annual Humewood Festival of Golf, use of a function room at Humewood for one occasion, and a corporate golf day at a reduced rate, to be used by the school as a fundraiser.
The next challenge will be on February 10.
