Another close win for Gelvandale
GELVANDALE made it four wins in four matches when they beat Jendamark United by three wickets in their NMB Premier League club cricket match yesterday.
United made a fist of defending their small total of 103, but in the end Gelvandale got home with seven wickets down in the 47th over.
Roswin Masimela anchored Gelvandale’s slow and deliberate chase with a patient 35 runs off 89 balls as Gelvandale came out on top in another close encounter.
Schauderville came close to upsetting Seaman’s Renault Old Grey at Mooredyke.
The home side took first strike and posted a modest 154, Ryan Nomdoe top-scoring with 39.
Gary Ova then took four wickets but Old Grey still managed to edge home to a onewicket win thanks to a six to end the game from number 11 Daryn Korkie.
Sean Callaghan was Old Grey’s best batsman with 30.
Buco Uitenhage made short work of United Brothers at Old Muir 1 yesterday.
The hosts batted first and made 207/7 in their 50 overs with 45 from Zakir Patel and 46 by Michael Bezuidenhout.
Brothers struggled with the bat and were rolled for a paltry 36 with the Uitenhage bowlers sharing the wickets.
In the other match played yesterday, Motherwell registered a solid win by beating Heatherbank by four wickets.
