Stars finally live up to name with victory

MORNING Stars finally put an end to their winless streak in the ABC Motsepe League when they beat Walter Sisulu University 1-0 at the Zwide Stadium over the weekend.

This was Stars’ first league victory this season after playing eight games without a win.

Despite the triumph, the Kwazakhele side are still rock-bottom on the log table with four points from nine matches.

The victory might be the kick the team needs to get into the groove of things, but most importantl­y the win will give them confidence going into their next league encounter.

Subs also managed to put a stop to their winless drought in the league when they beat Young Ideas 3-0 in a Motherwell derby at the weekend.

The win was the team’s second in the league this season after playing seven games without a win.

Subs are 10th on the log with nine points from nine games.

Meanwhile, after an impressive run in the league this season, top Bay team Callies experience­d their first defeat with a 2-0 beating at the hands of FC Buffalo.

The loss has dropped Callies to fifth place on the log, with 17 points from nine matches.

Motherwell side Lion City have managed to keep their unbeaten run in the league after playing to a goalless draw to Future Tigers.

The draw was the team’s third stalemate this season.

City are one spot above Callies with 18 points from eight games.
