Morning Stars rising to EC Bees challenge

- Vuyokazi Nkanjeni

MORNING Stars will be out to clinch their second successive win in the ABC Motsepe League when they play league contenders EC Bees at the Bhisho Stadium today (6pm).

Stars finally broke their eightgame winless streak in the league last week when they beat Walter Sisulu University 1-0.

The triumph was the club’s first in the league this season.

Despite the victory, the Kwazakhele side are rock-bottom on the log, with four points from nine matches.

Bees, who are on top of the log, will be out to extend their unbeaten run in the league to nine matches.

Meanwhile, Bay Callies, who suffered their first defeat in the league this season, will be looking to bounce back to their winning ways when they play struggling Young Ideas in a Bay derby at the Gelvandale Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

After an impressive start to the season, league rookies Callies went down 2-0 to Buffalo last weekend.

The defeat saw the Bay side drop to fifth place on the log with 17 points from nine games.

Motherwell side Lion City, who have managed to keep their unbeaten run on par this season, host Mthatha City at the NU2 Motherwell Stadium.

City, who played to a goalless draw against Future Tigers, will go all out to get a win against City tomorrow.

Depending on other results, a victory could see them move from fourth to second place.
