MAYOR’S 100-DAY REPORT
TROLLIP’S achievements and failures in his first 100 days in office:
ACHIEVEMENTS
All domestic business and first-class travel banned;
No vehicles costing more than R500 000 have been bought;
Legal action has been instituted against Afrisec and Mohlaleng Media, Access Management and some businessmen and municipal staff;
Houses in Missionvale have been connected to water and sewerage mains;
Work on 13 major roads has been completed and four more roads are under construction, against a target of 15 roads;
300 EPWP workers have been given job opportunities, against a target of 192;
The turnaround time for fixing potholes that have been reported is 72 hours;
Achieved R200-million in budget savings by cutting down on political appointments, against a target of R100-million;
A company has been hired to conduct a skills audit of all senior managers;
About 2 500 water leaks in Uitenhage and Despatch were fixed;
The number of roadblocks has increased;
The municipality has collected refuse in all wards and cleaned public toilets; and
A number of staff have been suspended and criminal and civil charges lodged with the SAPS and the Hawks.
FAILURES
Opening the Red Location Museum within the 100 days;
Opening the Thusong Centre in Motherwell;
Setting up a One-Stop Shop for businesses keen to invest in the Bay; and
Developing a macro organogram for the metro’s 7 000 workers.
