SCORING against the Kaizer Chiefs’ MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) team two weeks ago helped to rediscover his mojo, says Chippa United striker Lerato Manzini.

Manzini then used that positive energy to score a match-winning brace in the Chilli Boys’ 3-1 PSL fixture win against Kaizer Chiefs’ senior side in Port Elizabeth a week later.

“I did not drop my head [after missing a penalty against Platinum Stars],” Manzini said.

“I remained positive and knew that my chance [would] come, and it did on Saturday.

“It was the first time I had missed a penalty but these things happen.

“I also did not play that well, but I knew if I worked hard I [would] get an opportunity.

“I had an opportunity to start and I scored against Kaizer Chiefs in the MDC the week before and that helped boost my confidence.”

The former SuperSport United player said scoring the brace was a good feeling.

“It is my job as a striker to score goals. I always feel I can score goals, two or three in any game where I am given a chance.

“I do not set targets but I want to score every time I pull on the Chippa United jersey,” he said.

“The win on Saturday was for our supporters. Now we must build from this performance.”

Manzini was the Chilli Boys’ top goal scorer last season with seven goals.
