Stars stay at bottom after seventh defeat

HIGHBURY FC collected their fourth win in the ABC Motsepe League this season when they beat Morning Stars 2-1 in a Bay derby at the weekend.

The win has moved Highbury one step higher than their previous 11th spot on the log.

This was Stars’ seventh defeat in the league so far from 12 games played. They remain rock bottom on the log with six points, which they have collected from one win and three draws.

Callies suffered their fourth defeat in the league this season when they went down 2-1 to Future Tigers who are top of the log.

This was the Bay side’s second consecutiv­e loss after they were beaten 3-1 by Matta Milan in their previous encounter.

Callies are now fifth on the log with 20 points from 12 games.

Motherwell side Lion City failed to bounce back from their first league defeat to City Lads and played to a 1-1 draw against Mdantsane Mighty Bucks at the weekend.

City have only been beaten once so far and will be hoping to keep things that way. They are sixth on the log with 20 points from 12 matches.

City and Callies are equal on points but Callies are ahead due to a better goal difference. Results:
