WATER LEAKS FIXED

-

I REPORTED a water leak from under my meter early in July at the Raymond Mhlaba Sports Centre customer care office, Motherwell, and nothing happened for five months. The leaking water became a puddle in front of our front door and we had to use blocks of bricks to step on to enter and exit the premises. Then about a week ago I heard the mayor, Athol Trollip, on the radio giving a toll-free number and I called it immediately. I was met by a fabulously friendly and helpful Isabella, who assured me that I had suffered terribly long enough and within two days a team of plumbers arrived and repaired the meter leak. And then two days after that, an inspector called around to ensure that the leak was properly fixed – and I was grateful. I would like to thank our hard-working and honest mayor, my wife’s namesake and councillor Annette Lovemore. Mr Mayor, keep hope alive and merry Christmas.

WALTER REPLIES TO READERS’ COMMENTS

SO, M Verral, you too only received your black bags twice this year (“Only received black bags twice”, December 15). I only received my second pack of bags after complaining and having the manager hand deliver them to me. I do believe we can purchase municipal bags from the vendors at robots.

T PRICE, you are spot on (“Replies to readers’ comments”, December 15), but we also defeated Fapla, Swapo and all other insurgents who tried to take on the SADF in combat.

GREG BOTHA, PROUD EX-SOLDIER

“PLEASE sort out phone problem” (December 14): a big thank you to Nora and Clayton for sorting out my landline problem. May you all have a blessed Christmas with your families. PS And a blessed Christmas to all at The Herald.
