Chill with zesty refresher

- Brett Adkins

CHIC, chilled, comfortable and cool – quite literally, in this heat – are the essential ingredients for any gathering of clans for drinks this festive season.

Centrally situated in the heart of Walmer, Zest Urban Cafe in Times Square, off Heugh Road, ticks all those boxes and is just the spot to meet friends for some smooth and laid back holiday downtime.

Elegant and airy inside with crisp decor to match, there’s also an outside deck with a wrap-around bar serving patrons in both sections.

For those preferring to really lounge about, there are cushy sofas, while high tables and spacious dining booths make up the seating arrangements.

Add efficient staff and a cocktail and food menu to match the vibe, and you’re all set for a terrific sundowner session.

In fact, the cocktail and shooter menu resembles something of a novella of intriguing concoctions and innovative drinks ideas, which makes for pretty good reading. So give it a good squiz before you make your selection.

A choice of bubbly, high-end spirits, vino and ciders are also ready to refresh the parched.

Zest offers an innovative dining experience and a fresh take on many favourite food items, but if it’s just snacks when the party gets the munchies, there is a range of baskets for tasty and generous nibbles on the side.
