LION City recorded their second ABC Motsepe League defeat this season when they went down 1-0 to Callies FC in a Bay derby at the weekend.

The results also saw the Motherwell side drop one place down the log.

City are fourth with 29 points from 15 matches.

A win against Callies would have seen the team move one step closer to their target.

All is not lost though, as the league has just reached its halfway mark and there are still 15 more fixtures to be played.

On the other hand, the win saw Callies clinch their second consecutive victory in the league.

The Bay side has not been consistent of late and that has seen the team lose valuable points.

Despite the win, Callies are still fifth on the log with 27 points from 15 games.

Struggling side Morning Stars failed to collect maximum points and settled for a 1-1 draw against Young Ideas in another Bay derby.

Both sides were desperate for the points as they are fighting to avoid relegation.

However, it is Stars who look as if they have a better chance of surviving the chop.

The draw, though, has seen the Kwazakhele side drop to 15th place on the log with 11 points from 15 games.

They are only two points away from safety.

Subs experienced another 3-0 beating when they lost 3-0 to Tornado at the Jan Smuts Stadium in East London.

The Motherwell side has gone five matches without a win.

Their last victory was two months ago when they beat Matta Milan 2-1.

Subs are 14th on the log with 12 points from 15 games.

Results:

FC Buffalo 0 Mighty Bucks 2, Matta Milan 1 Morning Stars 1, Mthatha City 1 WSU 0, City Lads 0 Matatiele Professionals 2, Lion City 0 Callies 1, Tornado 3 Subs 0, Young Ideas 1 Highbury 1.
