SECOND-half goals from Owen Naidoo and Xolani Maholo saw Chippa United’s reserve team bounce back from their 1-0 defeat against Highlands Park to beat Cape Town City 2-1 in a Multichoice Diski Challenge fixture at Gugulethu Stadium at the weekend.

The Chilli Boys came back from a goal down in the first half to score two goals to topple the home side.

The win also saw the Port Elizabeth based side move up the log to 10th place with 15 points from 11 matches.

Chippa are three points from the top eight mark which is the club’s target this season, after finishing bottom of the log in the previous season.

Chippa development coach Glen Minnie said he was happy with his young warriors’ act of bravery and fighting spirit in the second stanza.

“Our game against Cape Town City was a very competitive game. We went there very well prepared,” Minnie said.

“We were one nil down at half time, but then came back in the second half and scored two goals within the space of 15 minutes. From there we totally out played them.

“First half, we had not come to the party, we conceded a soft goal but after that we were totally in control of the game.

“We pushed very hard in the second half and as a result we camped in their half.”

The coach said the score margin could have been bigger if his side had not missed chances at goals.

He also applauded the performance of Xolani Mahola and the team’s solid defence.

“The good thing is, this is our first game that we scored more than one goal and where we come back from a goal down to win the game, “he said.
