Another win beckons for Our Icon at Fairview

-

OUR Icon is set for another win in the main event at the Fairview Polytrack today.

This former Dean Kannemeyer runner was impressive in her first outing for her new stable of Alan Greeff when she defeated Imperial Guard by 2.25 lengths on December 30.

That run was also on the Poly and jumping from gate No 4 should make her a huge runner.

Charles Ndlovu retains the ride and will enter the race with much confidence.

Our Icon, who is owned by Mr AR & Mrs ABL Beck, is a four-time winner from 13 starts and has already earned R195 900. However, several others horses have winning chances.

Inviting Lily, from the Tara Laing yard, also won his last race, finishing 1.50 lengths in front of Matador In Red. This four-year-old son of Dynasty will have S’manga Khumalo up and comes into the race 5kg better off than last time. This makes him a big danger.

Inviting Lily won three of his 13 starts and has won stakes totalling R171 475.

Mercado is another to watch. This Dorrie Sham charge has only had one run in Port Elizabeth since relocating from the Sean Tarry stables when he ran on late over 1 400m.

On that occasion he finished just 3.30 lengths off the pace behind winner Afrikaburn.

Mercado won two of his 24 races and will have Raymond Danielson in the saddle.

Renate du Plessis’ Fly Like The Wind can also never be underestimated. He ran two crackers in his last outings and must also be regarded as a serious contender.

Killua Castle can upset the applecart. In his last race he finished third, 1.25 lengths behind Afrikaburn. It is significant that Gavin Lerena gets the ride this time.

This is a clear indication he can notch up his seventh career victory.

Laws Of Succession and Rahvar also deserve respect.
