Juan Two Three to make it four

- Herald Racing Editor

JUAN Two Three eyes a fourth consecutive win when he contests the R100 000 Fairview Merchants (Non-Black Type) over 1 200m on the turf tomorrow.

In his last run on December 30, the Alan Greeff-trained runner returned from a seven-month rest, but was highly impressive in beating Sir Duke by two lengths. With six wins from 12 outings the son of Var is set for another win for proud owners Messrs CG & LF Scribante.

Greg Cheyne retains the ride and the pair could be the ones to beat.

Cardinal also comes into the race with impressive form for the Justin Snaith yard.

He has won five of his 29 races and carries 9,5kg less than last time, making him a massive runner with JP van der Merwe in the saddle.

Yvette Bremner’s Kingvoldt is upset material and has the potential to win this race. He was handy in his last race, finishing 2,05 lengths behind Blarney Bay. Kingvoldt is set for further improvement and is a must for all exotics.

Lyle Hewitson retains the ride and comes into the race 4,5kg better off than last time.

Villa Del Largo, Sir Duke and Normanz are other contenders. Villa Del largo was caught out of his ground in his last two starts and a change of jockey is probably just what he needs now.

Raymond Danielson takes over the ride from Andrew Fortune for owner Fred Crabbia.

On their day any of them can collect the winner’s cheque which makes the race wide open.

In the final analysis Juan Two Three gets the vote with Cardinal, Kingvoldt, Normanz and Villa Del Largo next best.

The first race is off at 1210 with the Fairview Workriders Maiden Plates for fillies and mares over 1000m.
