Zahara sets record straight on Bible comments

-

SINGING sensation Zahara has clarified comments she made about the Bible, which fans thought were in reference to the Somizi Mhlongo and Grace Bible Church controversy.

The Loliwe hitmaker sparked debate when she shared a picture of herself and spoke about the Bible.

“Guys, you go to church and read the same Bible you brought yourself,” she said.

“So don’t be choosy when it comes to your sins. “Go write your own Bible.” Despite the backlash on social media‚ Zahara said her comments had nothing to do with Somizi and the debacle.

“I was referring to myself. I’m on holiday at my village in the Eastern Cape and didn’t even know about Somizi walking out of the church‚” she said. Her comments were not directed at anyone, Zahara said.

“I don’t care whether you’re gay. I just made a statement.

“I am a church person and I just wanted to tell people that when you go to church, don’t be stupid.”

The singer said she was not fazed by the hate messages.

“I don’t even read people’s comments on social media because I know there will always be hate whenever I say anything‚” she said.

Zahara’s comments came after Idols SA judge Mhlongo blasted the Grace Bible Church for a “homophobic” sermon on Sunday by Ghanian pastor Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, who said being gay was disgusting and unnatural.
