Boys ready for U13 competition

MORE than 200 boys from Safa-NMB and Safa-Sarah Baartman districts will converge on the Gelvandale fields tomorrow for the regional Build-It U13 soccer tournament.

In addition to a trophy, soccer kit and medals, the winning team will represent the province at the provincial finals later this year.

At the media launch last week, Build It regional manager Angelo Swartz said each Build It store hosted a tournament for its home community.

Shops from across the metro as well as Graaff-Reinet, Port Alfred, Jeffreys Bay and Kentonon Sea are represented.

Safa-NMB president Monde Mhletywa said this was not just a soccer tournament.

Organisers have partnered with Love Life to give the youngsters life skills talks.

There will also be a soccer skills demonstration after the completion of the round robin stage, before the finals.

Twelve teams have been divided into four pools and will play a round robin, the winners of each pool meeting in the knockout stage. Matches kick off at 10am on adjoining fields.

Group A: Build-It Stanford (Nebfa), Build-It Sundays River, Build-It Nobuhle (Nodefa). Group B: Build-It Ndlambe, Build-It Motherwell (Mofa), Build-It Ndlambe 1. Group C: Build-It Hunters (Kuygafa), Build-It Makana, Build-It Cleary Park (Nafa). Groub D: Build-It Kouga, Build-It Sunridge (Pefa), Build-It Graaff-Reinet
