United too strong for M’well

- Alvin Reeves

JENDAMARK United made short work of Motherwell, beating their township rivals by nine wickets in an NMB Premier League club cricket fixture at the NU1 Stadium yesterday.

Legspinner Lionel Vaaltyn took 4/17 as Motherwell crumbled to 109 all out in 39.4 overs.

A well-struck 34 at more than a run a ball at the top of the order from Sivuyile Duda got United off to a flying start in pursuit of their target, while Remano Esau clubbed an unbeaten 58 off only 55 balls with five fours and three sixes to see his team home in under 20 overs.

United Brothers and SA Home Loans Union were involved in a tough battle on a low, slow surface at the Dan Qeqe Stadium. Union eventually came out on top by 26 runs after making 172 batting first.

Captain Chris Arnold had a good game making 46 not out and taking 2/28, while Cianan van Heerden took three wickets of his own.

Nigel Brouwers claimed five scalps for 20 runs as SuperSpar Despatch beat Seaman’s Renault Old Grey by 75 runs.

Schauderville grabbed a deserved five-wicket victory over Buco Uitenhage with Fabian Jantjies scoring 43 not out and Diego Jordaan 25.
