Get moving on Team Relay Challenge entry

-

IF you have not signed up yet for the Team Relay Challenge, you still have a chance before you miss out on The Herald Continental Cycle Tour’s exciting new event.

Entries are still open for the 38km race on February 25, which is set for both road and mountain bike enthusiasts, and is designed for everyone who is keen to jump on their bicycle and have some fun.

Riders enter in teams of two, with each team consisting of a road cyclist and a mountain biker. The format of the race is a relay, with the road leg starting first.

The scenic 20km road cycling route starts at the race village at Pollok Beach and heads out on Marine Drive towards Schoenmakerskop, turning around near The Willows and back to the finish, where riders will tag their mountain biker.

The 15km mountain bike leg heads along Marine Drive for a short tar stretch before turning into the NMMU grounds. The route is fairly flat, consisting mainly of jeep track trails inside the NMMU nature reserve. Riders exit the reserve and head back to finish.

Entries are R180 per team, which includes a food truck voucher valued at R30 per team. And when it is time to cool down and relax, the new race village at the Pollok Beach area will boast a variety of food trucks from Food Truck Friday, a family tent with coffee cafe hosted by Urban Espress, a first-class beer hall and a kiddies’ play park.

There will be great live entertainment by Claire Venn, Hugo Kleinhans and Jason Gladwin.

The secure bike park positioned within the race village will allow cyclists to enjoy the festivities with peace of mind, knowing their bicycles are safe and secure.

It will be the place to be on February 25 and 26, when spectators and cyclists can get together and enjoy an epic weekend of cycling.

The Cycle Tour lounge will be available with a R375 access fee – including a scrumptious meal, soft drink, beer or cider, bottled water, and an official Cycle Tour T-shirt (available on Sunday February 26 only).
