Chase can fly like the wind

-

FLY Like The Wind has the form to win the Fairview Mile tomorrow.

The four-year-old gelding from the Renate du Plessis yard came very close in his last three starts and looks set to record his fourth career victory from 19 starts. In his last race he was beaten a short head by Laws Of Succession and in his penultimate he was just 1,35 lengths behind Afrikaburn.

Prior to that Fly Like The Wind also came close, finishing 1,25 lengths behind Zama.

Tomorrow he will carry just 53kg compared to the 59kg of last time. This should give him a massive winning chance. Chase Maujean retains the ride.

However, the Justin Snaith runner, It Is Written, deserves utmost respect. As a result of his move to Port Elizabeth he has changed trainers and was formerly with Dean Kannemeyer.

In his last race on January 7 at Kenilworth he ran 3,30 lengths behind the Sun Met winner Whisky Baron, showing that he is a top-class competitor who can win in Port Elizabeth.

Andrew Fortune takes over the ride from Anthony Andrews. It will be Fortune’s first chance to ride the Fred Crabbia-owned runner.

Kiss Me Hardy is upset material. The grey son of Captain Al ran well in his last two outings for trainer Corne Spies and should be a major factor with 7kg better off on his back.

Kiss Me Hardy’s last win at Fairview was on October 14 last year when he defeated Sir Duke by 0,50 lengths over 1 300m.

Welsh Emperor, from the Alan Greeff yard, will also have a lot of support. He was a decent three-year-old, but has not done so well recently. He was recently gelded and with Greg Cheyne aboard, is sure to bounce back into contention.

Readytogorightnow, Laws Of Succession and Eternal Jet are others to watch.

Readytogorightnow won his last race by two lengths for the Tara Laing yard, while Laws Of Succession also won, beating Fly Like The Wind with young Lyle Hewitson up.

Eternal Jet came very close in his last start, finishing just 0,50 lengths behind Afrikaburn while running on strongly in the closing stages over 1 400m.

The extra 200m will therefore be to his liking.

In the final analysis Fly Like The Wind gets the nod to lead It Is Written, Kiss Me Hardy and Welsh Emperor home.

The first race is off at 1235.
