TREATMENT UNACCEPTABLE

LIVINGSTONE Hospital: Dr Mojalefa Maseloa and your staff, you are serious, right? You didn’t know what kind of treatment a patient under your care required “Filing error blamed for maggots”, January 31). This is extremely unacceptable. You need to be fired, all of you. You are incompetent. Tsk!

TS

WHAT qualifications do the nurses at Livingstone Hospital have, who couldn’t clean a maggot-infested wound without a file telling them something was wrong?

TARGET OVERLOADING

WHERE is the person who is supposed to be in charge of the traffic department? Why don’t or can’t you conduct roadblocks at Greenacres for overloaded taxis? Take charge of your department or ask the metro police to do the work for you.

WELL SAID

WELL said, Mcebisi Ndletyana (“What’s behind Bobani’s threat to collapse metro coalition?”, January 31). I wonder what Mongameli Bobani’s supporter, Observer (“Work on the coalition”, January 31), is thinking?

REPLIES TO READERS

I REFER to the SMS, “Suburb’s parks not being cleaned” (February 1). I am the ward councillor for the Woodlands area. On January 27 a senior parks official informed my office that the municipality had now appointed a new grass-mowing contractor for the next three years and it was finalising the last phase of the paperwork.

It is expected that mowing in Ward 8 will start within the next two weeks. The cutting and cleaning of our parks will be done on a fixed cycle.

GUSTAV RAUTENBACH, DA COUNCILLOR, WARD 8

LEFTIST (“Replies to readers’ comments”, January 31) asks whether the carer who assaulted a defenceless patient was given a psychiatric evaluation. The carer was defended in court by a lawyer who would have informed the court of any mitigating circumstances. That he did not do so speaks volumes. Leftist’s sympathy is misplaced, but tells us a lot about him or her.

NO ACTION TAKEN

EVERY Sunday some Uitenhage residents see fit to sit next to the golf course and party and consume alcohol. This leads to littering, public urination and drunken driving, yet the authorities do nothing about it.

AWARD-WINNING ACT

IN the upcoming political awards rumoured about (“Politicians vie for glamour awards”, January 25), for the best act/performer or great act acknowledged is Julius Malema’s “pay back the money” stunt in parliament” and we saw the president paying back the money.
