PORT Elizabeth Idols SA fans will be in for a Valentine’s treat as a newly formed boy band by three of the show’s season 12 contestants will rock the Boardwalk ICC on February 18.

Port Elizabeth’s Bevin Samuels has come together with Terra Cox and Keegan Martin to form a multi-genre musical group called 156 and will have the debut performance as a group at their Valentine’s show.

The trio, who will start with solo performances and then perform together, will be joined by Port Elizabeth’s Idols SA season 8 runner-up Melissa Allison.

Show organiser Elton de Lange said the name 156 came from the group members’ contestant numbers on Idols SA.

“We are very excited about the show. The guys have decided to have their debut performance in Port Elizabeth because they all had the most votes from the city [during their time in Idols SA],” he said, adding that the public could expect “a lot of love in the air” as this was a Valentine’s show.

Samuels said the idea to form a boy band was inspired by calls from their fans to see them on stage together and so they discussed the idea and decided to make it official.

Describing the group’s sound as a combination of RnB, pop, rock and soul, he said audience members would enjoy something unique at the Valentine’s show.

Samuels said all 156 members still had their solo careers and he was currently working on a single he hopes to release during the course of the year.

Allison said she was looking forward to performing her own songs and some covers and was proud to be supporting local talent.

“I did watch Bevin Samuels on Idols SA and I think he is phenomenal and he represented PE very well. So I’m looking forward to performing with 156,” she said.

Although she moved back to Port Elizabeth after her Idols SA journey, Allison is still pursuing different projects in the music industry.

156 is planning their first national tour but details are yet to be confirmed.

Christo Davids, popularly known for the role of Errol Pieterse on 7de Laan, will MC the show.

Tickets for the show are available at Computicket at R100 for standard seats and R200 for VIP.
