Fishy affair with former Springbok

-

HI darlings, it is finally February and is that not just the greatest news we have had all year? I know I’m excited, but anyways, enough about me because I know you’re here to read about what your peers got up to.

So last Thursday I was keen on something fishy so I moseyed on to my favourite seafood place, This-Is-Eat at the harbour. I was not looking at spying on anyone but these things just seem to follow me around.

I spotted, walking in like an Italian “don”, Thando Manana, the former Springbok player and regular feature on 083 Sports @ 6 with Robert Marawa on Metro FM, making an appearance at the take-away joint.

The guy was happy to talk to the few people who recognised who he was. He wasn’t subtle about the fact he had a book coming out and I for one cannot wait to get my hands on a copy.

Then on Saturday night I put on my Asian outfit and headed to the Boardwalk ICC for the Chinese New Year celebrations, where the Chinese community in Nelson Mandela Bay celebrated the Year of the Rooster. My oh my there were some interesting dishes on display, including a deep-fried Chinese cake.

The drinks were flowing and . . . the money. I love the Chinese tradition of giving away money on new year’s. Any money in this economic climate is welcome, even though guests at other tables got up to R588. I was grateful nonetheless with my R88.

Can we please take a moment of silence for the departure of Boardwalk operations manager Peter Tshidi.

Peter left PE for greener pastures in Mpumalanga. Where am I going to rest my eyes when I’m looking for eye candy now? He sure did make those Boardwalk suits look just extra suave.

It seems like Sundays are the new Saturdays, and Chief Nqoko’s place was filled to the brim on Sunday. It just might give Cubana a run for its money, but then again, we all know what goes on there. But that is none of my business.

Until next time darlings. Ciao!
