Superbikes on show at revamped Kyalami
THE South Africa Bike Festival and Gas Sports will be bringing the 1 000cc class for a round of the DEOD SuperGP Champions Trophy to Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit from May 26 to 28.
Over and above the actionpacked day out that the South Africa Bike Festival has to offer, visitors can also look forward to seeing more than 30 of South Africa’s top superbike riders battle it out on Gauteng’s most renowned, celebrated and legendary race circuit.
The event will be the race series’s first to be held at the newly refurbished Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.
The schedule of events for the weekend will include three 20minute practise sessions, as well as one qualifying session on Friday May 26, with main races on Saturday and Sunday at 2pm.
This means an hour a day of scintillating SuperGP high-speed action inbetween the highly anticipated circuit test rides and stunt shows also taking place on the circuit at South Africa Bike Festival.
“It is a great honour to play host to a round of the DEOD SuperGP Champions Trophy 1 000cc class, which is highly-regarded in racing circles and will offer patrons some magnificent racing action,” South Africa Bike Festival event director, Nicole Muller said.
Over the past three years, the SuperGP Champions Trophy has grown to be firmly established as the premier national motorcycle racing series on the South African calendar, with many of its stars going on to showcase their talents on the international stage.
Current runner-up in this year’s SuperGP Champions Trophy, Michael “Magic Mike’’ White, will be one of the riders competing, joined by local talents, multiple National Superbike champion, Greg Gildenhuys and four-time SuperGP champion, Clinton Seller.
Visitors can bring their families along to get autograph signings and photo opportunities with all the contenders in the Sky Lounge and on the main stage, on all three days of the festival.
