Big Tree run on Saturday

- Mogan Segadavan segadavanm@timesmedia.co.za

THE third Clover Big Tree training run on Saturday will be over a 27km course.

Runners will head towards Builders Warehouse and turn right into Buffelsfontein Road and head towards Seaview.

They will make a U-turn where the road narrows just past Bushy Park.

On the return trip, runners face the daunting 3km Heartbreak Hill before jogging downhill back to the start.

As this is not a race, participants start at their own time.

The 5:30/km runners start at 4.45am.

As usual volunteers will man the water points.

There is no formal entry fee but runners must donate R35, which will go towards the Rotary Club and Rotary Foundation.

Nearly 400 have completed the previous two training runs.

Runners are reminded that the next Big Tree run will be over 35km, starting and ending at the Lake Farm Centre, and is being organised in conjunction with their 10km race.

The cost is R90 and all proceeds will go towards the centre.

Entry forms are available at all sports shops in metro.

Runners can also enter on the morning of the run.

There will be a mass start and as this is not a race, club colours are not compulsory.
