CALLIES bounced back from their three consecutive ABC Motsepe League defeats to clinch a tight 3-2 win against Walter Sisulu University at Gelvandale Stadium at the weekend.

Despite the win, the Bay side are still sixth on the log, with 33 points from 20 matches.

Callies’ misfortunes in the league started early last month when they lost 2-0 to Swartkops Valley United Brothers and that was followed by a beating from Mdantsane Mighty Bucks by the same margin.

Their most recent loss was a 2-1 slip-up to Matatiele Professionals.

But the win could be a great confidence booster for Callies ahead of this weekend’s tough clash against league contenders EC Bees.

Meanwhile, Subs shocked everyone this weekend when they beat Bees 1-0 at Bisho Stadium.

Despite the win, the Motherwell side remain 14th on the log with 19 points from 20 games.

This was the Bees’ first defeat in the league so far this season.

Second on the log, the Bisho side are only four points behind log-leaders Future Tigers, who are on 48 points from 20 games.

What will be comforting though is that Bees have got a game in hand as they have only played 19 league matches.

Lion City were held to a 1-1 draw by Highbury in a heated Bay derby over the weekend.

The Motherwell side are third on the log with 37 points, while Highbury are still fighting to break into the top half of the log.

They are ninth on the log with 23 points from 20 games.
