Prize for top school in running event

THE school with the most pre-entries in the Sportsmans Warehouse 5km fun run/walk on Saturday will receive R2 500 in shopping vouchers.

Pupils and their families are eligible for the school group team.

The race will follow the 15km race organised by Madiba Bay Warriors, which will begin and end at the William Moffett Shopping Centre.

The 15km run, which is an EPA Participat­ion League event, starts at 6.30am and the 5km at 6.45am.

Entry form are available at sports shops in the metro.

The entry fee is R50 for the 15km and R20 for the fun run/walk. A temporary licence, 15km only, costs R20.

All pre-entries and school entries close at 5pm today.

However, late entries will be accepted on Friday between 4pm and 6pm and on Saturday morning from 5.30am at Sportsmans Warehouse.

Participan­ts are reminded that parking in the centre's main parking area is not allowed.

Parking will be available behind Tile Africa and behind Pick n Pay.

THE Harvest Christian School 5km fun run will start at the school, 83 Albert Road, Walmer at 8am on Saturday.

Entry forms are available at the school, The Footballer and Brian Bands.

Entries at the shops close at 5pm today and the entry fee is R30.

Late entries will be accepted at the school between 2pm and 4pm on Friday and from 6.30am on Saturday.

There will be cash prizes in the under 13, under 18, men’s and women’s categories.

In addition to the customary lucky draw, there will be three special prizes – best quirky hat, first parent and pram and first over 70.

Food stalls selling pancakes, boerewors rolls, tea, coffee and cold drinks will be available.
