MORNING Stars recorded their second consecutive win in the ABC Motsepe League when they beat Matatiele Professionals 2-1 at the weekend.

This was Stars’ fourth success in the league so far this season.

The win saw the relegationthreatened Kwazakhele soccer side move one step up the log, but they are not yet safe from the chop.

They are now in 15th position, with 18 points from 22 matches.

If Stars keep up the winning momentum they will be able escape relegation as they are only three points away from safety.

Motherwell side Lion City have managed to keep their gap between them and East London’s Tornado, who are silently making their way to the top.

City recorded their 13th victory when they beat Matta Milan 1-0 at the weekend.

They are third on the log with 46 points from 23 games.

Only three points separate them and fourth-placed Tornado.

After a disappointing 1-0 defeat against struggling Stars, Callies were able to redeem themselves when they defeated Highbury by the same score margin at the weekend.

Callies remain sixth on the log, with 36 points from 23 games.
